The tradition of "Afternoon Tea" has historically been attributed to the Lady Anna, seventh duchess of Bedford, who, because of the long hours between lunch and evening meal, suffered from afternoon sinking spells. Her maid remedied them with a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake. She grew so accustomed to this daily routine, she started to invite friends to share it with. Having afternoon tea soon progressed from a get together with tea and bread and jam into a social event among the English aristocracy. Come join us at Walnut Street House of Tea to start your own tradition. For your enjoyment, may we recommend Darjeeling, Assam, Ceylon, Earl Gray or Lapsang Souchony, or one of our additional loose-leaf blends? The silver and crystal presentation will feature delectable finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, served with Imported English Clotted Cream and Jam or Lemon curd, Pastries and Petit-fors. Walnut Street House of Tea is proud to serve "Specialty Teas" to celebrate an anniversary, bridal shower, birthday, private tea socials, or themed teas such as "Titanic" or "Gone With The Wind".
